Mr G

Many of you are not aware as to how talented our tutors are and the wealth of experience and knowledge that they bring to our program, so I thought you should know a little about them.

Joe Gould aka Mr G has been a fixture at our school running the amazing percussion program for the past 10 years and has been performing for over 20 years. Originally a pianist then xylophonist, he moved on to rock bands before studying classical percussion at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. He has performed at the Sydney Opera House and other major world venues including at the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. He has studied instrumental music programs at post-graduate level a WSU, studying conducting under Steve Williams. The list of conductors Mr G has worked with is amazing, Michael Butcher OAM, James Brice, Matthew Krel, Steve Williams, Mark Strykowski, Tim Ferrier, and Gary Clark to name a few. He has his own band The Crooked Fiddle Band who have undertaken 4 tours of Europe and recorded 2 albums in Chicago with renowned producer Steve Albini, as well as playing for Caitlin Park, Fanny Lumsden, Sui Zhen, The Green Mohair Suits, Leroy Lee, Emma Davis and many more. To quote the man himself “I can’t wait to continue the great legacy of bands at REPS, and to bring some of my own unique Mr G flavour to the band program.”
