Band Instruments – Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet, Oboe, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, French Horn, Euphonium, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion. These instruments are all available for hire.
REPS Band rehearsals happen on Mondays at 7:50am in the band room. All students who were in the senior or training bands in 2016 must join unless they have successfully auditioned for the performance band. Beginner students will be asked to join the REPS band when their tutor deems them ready to join the band. Students learn about their instruments, how to be part of an ensemble and create wonderful music together. The REPS band is made up of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments as well as keyboard. All instruments are important to the ensemble and require the same level of commitment, practice and enthusiasm. The band program is particularly looking for students to play brass instruments.
Students learn music reading skills, instrumental skills, and ensemble skills.
Students are expected to practice 4 – 5 times a week at home, must attend weekly rehearsals for their ensemble and must attend a weekly private lesson.
Performance opportunities for the REPS band include the Ryde East Music Festival, Wahroonga Music Festival, Music Day, Musical Variety Night and Week 8 Gold Card Assemblies in Terms 2 & 4.
