Performance Band

In 2017 the Performance Band replaced the Senior Band. Instead of progressing automatically from the training band, student musicians must audition for a position and demonstrate they have the commitment to perform and the suitable competency to perform as part of higher calibre ensemble.

Band Instruments – Flute, Piccolo, Clarinet, Oboe, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, French Horn, Euphonium, Trumpet, Trombone and Percussion. These instruments are all available for hire.

Performance Band rehearsals happen on Thursdays at 7.50am in the band room.

This is our most senior ensemble at the school and entry is by audition only.

In this ensemble the children will be more challenged with the repertoire and they will further develop their ensemble playing skills whilst creating wonderful music together. The Performance Band is made up of woodwind, brass and percussion instruments as well as keyboard and bass guitar.

All instruments are important to the ensemble and require the same level of commitment, practice and enthusiasm. The band program is particularly looking for students to play brass instruments.

Students learn music reading skills, instrumental skills, and ensemble skills.
Students are expected to practice 5 – 6 times a week at home, must attend weekly rehearsals for their ensemble and must attend a weekly private lesson.

Performance opportunities for the Performance Band include the REPS Music Festival, NSW Schools Bad Festival, Music Day, Musical Variety Night and the Week 8 Gold Card Assemblies in Terms 1 & 3.
